Fresh Okra

I recently had a taste for my potato okra soup concoction, but alas we were all out of the okra and tomatoes from our garden. No problem, I’ll just hop on over to the store and purchase the ingredients, after all they were grown SOMEWHERE right?…

Sigh… Looks yummy, smelled yummy, but alas, there is just NO substitution for okra plucked fresh from the garden… So you guessed it, this year we will have many more okra stalks growing at Casa Del Smith!

Realization, Redemption, Restoration

I remained up late this evening (morning? lol) just to share this link which has personal significance to my Fav and I, and to bring awareness to an awesome Indie film which will be released in a theater near you on March 23 called October Baby.

AND if you have not seen it already (even if you have) get your hands on the DVD Courageous. There a few films that I believe are a must see, and these two make the list. It is rare that you leave a movie theater inspired to do and be more while at the same time feeling clean, forgiven, directed and washed. If you have the chance check out the other videos at www.everylifeisbeautiful.com

and remember,

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Lady Marjane – Teasers

Not two days ago, I had the pleasure of capturing some amazing images of the fabulous Marjane. Now I could blog on and on about how she is truly one of my favorite clients, or how she pushes me to continually create beautifully interesting images, but she is waiting, oh–so-patiently to see these teasers of hers, so I will suffice it to say, we had a blast! Next time bowling lanes!

Bowling Alley

So I recently had the great pleasure of being introduced to BEX. Absolutely awesome service and so accommodating. If you live in the Lancaster CA area, I recommend you try this place at least once. The experience alone is worth it. Tell them LaShunda the Photographer sent you =-)

Evening Out

So My Fav and me went out this evening to see a depiction of a story I’d heard often as a child and variations in my adulthood, Casaq the Eagle. Some may know it as the Eagle and the Chickens. It’s an old Native American Tail of an eagle who was displaced in a farm yard who grew up as a chicken, until his true destiny was revealed to him.

This depiction focused on mentorship, thankfulness, and forgiveness.

It was a very pleasant evening filled with singing, dancing, flying eagles, flags… So glad we decided to go!

Of Note

Gosh so much has had me down early. lol. First I am so very grateful to have had another busy season as a photographer, It’s such a blessing before a lull but gosh it was tiring. Had me pooped. and speaking of! My Tashi had pups! 6 little ankle biters sooooo sweet, images coming soon. They got here thanksgiving night and what a special blessing to me that was. I was in tears. Then Christmas I was fighting a cold, and New Years, had me down with Tonsillitis…  I’m still recovering. 8 more days of meds. But I’m now getting to rest. I even picked up my guitar again, which I have been longing to do for sometime. I am so grateful to be alive, and getting well. I tell you yestureday when I was able to drink a whole glass of water with minimal pain… well enough of that. Lets just say, this year I have a different perspective on things.

Have a beautiful!

I love it when those come around. He’s such a workaholic though that he immediately wanted to tackle several of our seems-like-it-will-never-end list of home improvement projects that his wife keeps dreaming up. But you know, we are tired. We have an extremely busy life and coming towards to the end of the year, things are becoming a bit busier… Soooooo I convinced him to do only one thing. And look at what we found!

                             garden

Yep we finally tackled our garden again, rescuing it from weeds and mint (sigh I was so hope filled over my two mint plants, but alas they seem to be trying to take over) and wrangled back our tomato and cantaloupe vines again! We were surprised also to see our strawberry bush still thriving, and little bell peppers growing. Our dogs were thrilled too, they got the smaller carrots, um and a piece of the one on the left too!

TTYL! Have a Beautifilled!

Better Late…

So  I was reminded today that I have yet to share travel images from um, Last Years Anniversary travels…sigh. So for our gracious hosts who not only put us up, but put up with us AND showed us their fair city, (such a beautiful, wonderful time) here are the first images. Enjoy.
