A Year In Reflection : August 2013

Rhetoric, Built-in Book shelf, Juice fast and raw food cleanse that changed everything, and The accidental Co-Op.

Wow was this month jam packed. We again attended a wonder-filled worship-full evening of poetry, prose and exhortation at Rhetoric, and await in great anticipation the 2014 addition. For more information and access to videos of last years poetry go to :  http://www.p4cm.com/

We created one of what will be two custom built-in book shelves YAY! I absolutely love knowing I made the molding that adorns the sides, and the storage we provided to our little home. It awaits it’s finishing paint and crown molding which we decided to add. but other than that. Yep it’s done!

There were things in my body that were out of order, which led me to take charge of my own health and healing. So I decided to begin my healing by going on a fast. What was supposed to be a 7 day all juice cleansing fast, turned into something more. You can read all about what I did in this blog post Here.

Well that fast turned into The Accidental Co-Op. How is that possible? Well while I was juicing ALL  of my “meals” I found the cost to be, um, a bit expensive for the amount of everything I needed to truly be successful. In that I was committed, I knew I needed an alternate food source, and our summer garden was coming to an end and we needed quantity. So we decided to purchase our food in bulk. To make a long story short people began asking what we were up to, recognizing a change in my life, weight, energy, etc.… and wanted to know where we were getting all our food. One thing lead to another, conversations happened, and BAM! Accidental Co-Op.

A Year In Reflection : September 2013

This year for our anniversary, we decided to stay home and work on a home improvement project. The goal was to take a week and complete the entire outdoor gathering place/gazebo/room, and then to party hardy after it was done. So we invited family and friends to come and fellowship/help/cheer us on. We expected it to be fun, and truly it was. We did not expect record breaking temperatures every single day of the week!

Our “helpers” mostly played in the water, and sat in the shade. And really who could blame them. It was upwards of 115 degrees, and already 95 early in the mornings!

So what I estimated would take about 4 days (um yeah I kind of underestimate sometimes) is now taking months! Honestly though, we are so very humbled that all of you came out from near and far, to participate with us, and help us out of the goodness in your hearts, or maybe curiosity to just see what “they” are up to now. Thank you. We had a blast fellowshipping and dancing in the mud.

We do not have images of everyone who came out (shame on us) as we were trying so hard to do as much as we could before the heat overwhelmed us or the night descended, but we do remember every moment, the borrowed truck, the efficient cob stirring, the loading and unloading of rocks and sand, the digging of trenches, the free granite and wood and barrel and stones and bricks. Just remembering has our hearts full.

Ok so it is still not finished BUT we will resume building as soon as Spring hits, and we exit the record breaking frostiness that is this Winter. From our hearts we say again to everyone who cared enough to lend a hand, a foot, and travel the dirt road to assist us. You ROCK!

A Year In Reflection : November 2013

Truly this was an event filled month for us. Baby Showers, Birthday’s, Newborns, Conferences and Shoeboxes oh my!

Annually, we host a get together to pack shoeboxes to send around the world, and fellowship one with another. This year we had to scale back our Operation Shoebox Party due to time constraints, and decided to just make It a family affair. I had hoped to pack 20 boxes and we exceeded that number by two. YAY! A few people from my church also got in on the giving, and altogether we donated 30 boxes! So we ended up matching last years giving which was a blessing.

Next year we will be on the ball and have our party scheduled out well in advance. As it is, we have already started our collecting for the boxes! If you’d like to learn more about this awesome giving ministry, Click Here. You can also find ideas on Pinterest!

This month also was our pre opening of PRAISE DANCE TV.com at the Dominion Dance Conference. We had a blast! Check us out when you have the chance. We will be having a Grand Launching coming soon so keep your eyes peeled and your expecters on!

A Year In Reflection : December 2013

December brought about very many things for us this year, including the loss of my great grandfather, and My Fav’s great aunt, an impromptu trip to Chi-Town that never happened, and the realization of a long term personal desire. What these things all have in common is how out the blue they came. Three phone calls that changed our perspective on things.

My Great Grand Father was a man filled with 95 years worth of experience that I feared lost, but was comforted to realize that knowledge that was gained once, can be gained again, and that His legacy lives on in the hearts and faces of our family.

My Fav’s great aunt, passed away right before the holidays. She was a lovely woman with whom we visited during our trip to Chicago a few years back. It amazes me to realize how much I gleaned from her about everyday living, and cooking, within just a few short hours. My prayers are with her husband and children right now.

Then there was the fulfilled desire. To be honest, I had given up on it and even put it out of mind because every door I tried, seemed to be closed over the years. Then out of the blue, a phone call that lead to a phone call, had me standing in front of some very special little people doing more work than even I the workaholic could have ever imagined, creating and printing portraits of nearly 400 children with their families that came together for the holidays. It was truly a special honor to me. It did however have me down in utter exhaustion for two days recovering! I have great hopes to do it all again next year.
